At the heart of these encounters, called 5 sur 5 (or 5 on 5), is the city of La Louvière where young filmmakers from 5 continents will exchange views with established directors for several days.
5 filmmakers, 1 per continent, will be chosen to take part in a production residency in La Louvière, Belgium, from August 17 to September 20, 2005. This residency covers the costs of travel, lodging and food as well as technical support and filmmaking material.
At the end of the stay, each filmmaker will present a 10-minute documentary film to the public. The only constraints imposed are :
- the theme : "la folie" meaning madness, craziness, foolishness or extravagance
- the area where the film will take place : La Louvière’s region.
How to become one of the 5 filmmakers?
This residency is addressed, above all, to young filmmakers without too much experience who would like to increase their knowledge, meet people from other cultures and have the opportunity to make a film.
To participate, candidates must be:
– between 18 and 35 years old.
– have a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 5 years experience in the field of cinema (as a student at a cinema school and/or self-taught).
The candidate’s submission must include the following:
– a curriculum vitae
– the completed inscription form (to be down loaded)
– a letter in support of the application
– possibly extracts of previous work
