Þögn er þema fjórðu stuttmynda handritakeppninnar Nisi Masa 2005
The NISI MASA association Founded in 2001, NISI MASA is a European network of young film enthusiasts present in fifteen countries. Its goals are to uncover new talents in European film, to direct intercultural projects around cinema in Europe and to establish grounds for discussions and collaborations between young European filmmakers. Every year, NISI MASA holds a European contest for young scriptwriters of short-films. The association helps the winners get their films produced and distributed. NISI MASA also organizes conferences, seminars, film screenings, script-writing and directing workshops, and holds meetings during European festivals.
Contest rules
The contest is open to 18 to 28 year-olds living in one of the organizing countries. Each participant must write a short-film screenplay of up to 20,000 characters maximum on the theme Silence.
3 winning scripts
The first place winner will receive a grant of 15,700 euros on behalf of the G.R.E.C. and LVT to direct his film. Two runners up will also each receive a prize of 4,700 euros (courtesy of the Hippocrène Foundation and LVT.)
Contest calendar
First phase: April 10th – July 31st, 2005
Information campaign and deadline for submitting scripts
Second phase: August 1st – October 31st, 2005
Reading and pre-selection of the scripts on a national level
Third phase: November 1st – November 7th, 2005

Script-writing workshops
The 2005 contest has increased its amount of awards, offering the first 16 finalists a script-writing workshop coached by professionals during the Premiers Plans d’Angers festival of 2006.
After France, Italyand Spain?
It’s one of the great novelties of this contest: every year, the European jury’s meeting changes location and is hosted in a different country. In 2005, the jury will meet during the INTERFILM short-film festival in Berlin, the most important festival of its class in Germany.
