Í umsögn dómnefndar segir á meðal annars:
“First, we wish to commend the overall clever and stylistic way of utilizing music in the many films in this competition. However, our criteria for picking out the best original film score have been parameters such as how does the music succeed in providing an emotional and dramatic dimension? And, How accomplished was the design and impact of the music in relation to the story-telling?
A fundamental and pre-conceived part of the structure, the animated experimental film HIDEBOUND really stood out in this sense; blending both acoustic and electronic genres - synths and classical woodwinds - and always underlining the animation, the composers really become co-storytellers and unify the visuals and the soundtrack.”
